Frequently Asked Questions About Navigate Neurodiversity Occupational Therapy

If you need to rearrange your appointment, then please contact me via email as soon as possible or use the portal to cancel.

For more information, please see the cancellation policy here.

Are you LGBTQIA+ friendly?

People of any gender or sexuality identities are welcome here! I am Pansexual myself.

I also pride myself on creating a safe space for transgender people and consider myself to be an ally.

As part of my training, I completed a placement within a gender identity clinic, which gave me a stronger understanding of the current gender clinic pathways, gender confirmation surgeries, terminology and biopsychosocial factors that may be impacting your well-being. Do let me know your pronouns in your email, or fill out my form once you book a session (the form link will be in your portal registration email).

I am also open to feedback or suggestions if there is anything I could do to make my service more LGBTQIA+ friendly!

Are you disability friendly?

How many sessions do I need?

I am an occupational therapist who mainly works with autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. But in summary, I work with anyone who identifies as neurodivergent who I feel I have the skill set to support. I specialise in late diagnosed autistic women and gender minorities.

Please do get in touch if you would like to find out if I could support you.

How can occupational therapy help neurodivergent people?

How do I cancel my appointment?

Will you accommodate my cultural needs?

As a graduate of anthropology, I take a culturally sensitive approach to practice. With your help, together, we can adapt our sessions to your cultural or religious needs. Do let me know if there is anything we can do to accommodate you further! I am also open to feedback or suggestions if there is anything I could do to make my service more accommodating.

Yes! As a disabled person myself I do my best to accommodate any needs. If you need any accommodations to access this service, let me know in your enquiry email, or at our discovery call.

Types of accommodations might include; having breaks in the appointment or using subtitles.

Who do you work with?

It's completely up to you!

Generally, I would recommend a minimum of the following per goal:

  1. Free discovery call

  2. Initial assessment (not a scary test, don't worry!)

  3. OT appointment planning towards your goal

  4. OT appointment working towards your goal

  5. OT appointment checking in on how you got on putting the strategies in place & any questions.

  6.  Final OT appointment; tying up loose ends, outcome measures and setback planning.

But you can have as many appointments as you want, on as many different topics as you want.! You can also have breaks, pause and continue your sessions anytime. One of the beauties of private Occupational Therapy is that you can tailor it to you and how much support you want, rather than being limited by the timeframes. On average clients tend to work with me for between 5-30 sessions.

How long does each therapy session take?

How much does it cost?

Occupational therapy can help you explore your diagnosis/self-diagnosis. We can discuss and explore ways to make your life easier and happier and work towards your goals.

Your goals might include; managing your energy levels, Improving your work or home life, understanding and accepting yourself, or being more organised or just having a safe space to verbally process your life.

Sessions are booked for 25 mins or 50 mins; however, if you wish to end the call sooner, that is absolutely fine just let me know.

I believe in being transparent about pricing. Therefore I publish my prices on the website. Please visit the 'services' page for more information about each service offered. Prices are from £55 an hour for self-paying clients .Reports are available for an extra cost.

If you are on a low income I provide a 10% discount, payment plans and 25 min sessions to lower the cost.

Payment:

  • You may pay per session up to 24hrs before

Can I email you between sessions?

Yes!

Feel free to drop me an email between our sessions! please note:

  • I'll do my best to get back to you within 48 hours, Monday to Friday, between 10 am and 5 pm.

  • If you need to sort through thoughts, sharing via email is welcome. I'll always read them and likely drop a quick note of acknowledgment. Please remember, I'll keep these emails in your clinical notes—it's part of my professional responsibility.

  • While I'm here to support you, if you're in urgent need, reach out to 999 (or your local emergency services) or the NHS crisis line.

  • Questions for clarity? Shoot me an email! Whether it's about something we discussed or clarifications on equipment examples.

  • Forgot to mention something in our session? No worries! Drop me a note, and we'll catch up on it next time.

  • Your feedback matters! Let me know how I can improve our sessions to better suit your needs.

  • Remember, for urgent matters, please refer to your safety plan or contact emergency services.

  • I keep things pretty casual in emails, often throwing in emojis for that friendly touch. When reaching out to other healthcare professionals or employers, I switch to a formal tone.

  • Wondering if there's an earlier slot available? Feel free to ask! I'll do my best to accommodate you as soon as possible.

  • If you have any questions about our email boundaries, don't hesitate to ask. 😊

  •

Do you provide crisis support?

Unfortunately, I am unable to work with clients who have attempted suicide within the last month, as specialist mental health support would be better suited to your needs.

Other information about what to expect:

  • you are welcome to move around, eat and drink, stim, turn the camera on and off, laydown, dance, draw, and colour. Do whatever is comfortable for you in our sessions. I often fidget and move around too :)

  • if you would like any adjustments to sessions or communications please let me know, there is no adjustment which is 'too much' or 'too weird', all are welcome!

  • appointments are via 'telehealth' the inbuilt platform on my client portal. However, frustratingly this does not have a 'chat' function or subtitles. If you would like to have sessions via google meet instead this is no problem, just let me know.

  • 'emergency' appointments are available, however, these are not crisis appointments. I may be able to fit you in within 48 hours depending on my schedule.

  • The cancellation policy is to please inform me at least 48 hours before the session to prevent being charged, for more details please see your terms and conditions document.

  • I often sit at a desk for sessions, but at times I work from bed or the sofa depending on how my joints are feeling.

  • You are welcome to bring someone to the appointments, if possible please let me know in advance. (plushies and animals are always welcome and you don't need to let me know they will be attending, but you totally can if you want to!)

  • You may record sessions- but please advise me beforehand, and do not share this recording with anyone else.

  • I face the camera while speaking but often look away from it while listening as this helps me to listen better.

  • I mostly wear black or block colour clothing to avoid adding extra visual stimulation to the call

  • if you would like to provide a complaint or positive feedback you can either do this by email or anonymously using this google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSco9YQaIat0mdcrDEq7nrmVuvxa6IvaWO3knWcqu40V9EkdUg/viewform?usp=sf_link

  • I write some small notes while you are talking to help me with my memory, the clinical notes are written after the session.

  • Free group body doubling sessions weekly/fortnightly are available for all clients.

  • OT sessions with me mix lived-experience (sharing my story or what has worked to me, or using this to validate and empathise), discussion, validating, discussing special interests, checking in about your week, cheering you on, venting in a safe space, and practical problem-solving and plan creation.
